London Leather Shopping Trip
Our "1 Day London Leather Shopping Trip" is back.
After many requests from you lovely lot I have put together an itinerary of my favourite leather and hardware shops in London. A few have recently moved or sadly shut down so I have selected a new combo to visit:
Alma Leathers - 12-14 Greatorex Street, London, E1 5NF
GH Leathers - 26 Cambridge Heath Road, Whitechapel, London, E1 5QH
J.T Batchelors - 9-10 Culford Mews, London N1 4DZ
London Trimmings - 41B Antill Rd, London N15 4AS
Buying leather can be quite overwhelming at the beginning as there are so many different options and prices. Prior to our shopping trip I will contact via email to discuss your objective for the day. Will you be sourcing things specifically for a design you have in mind or are you just interested in the experience of buying leather? If you have a specific design in mind we will go through what you will be looking to buy while we are in London. I would highly recommend bringing with you a wheely suitcase so that you don't have to lug around any heavy carry bags.
We will be getting public transport tubes, trains and buses so a travel card would be ideal.
Day Itinerary:
10:30 - Meet at Aldgate East tube station. Walk 5 mins to Alma Leathers
10:45 - 11:45 Alma leathers they stock a fantastic selection of leathers mainly chrome tanned - spend approx. 1 hour here.
11:45 - 12:00 Aldgate East Tube - District line to Whitechapel - approx 15 mins travel, walk to GH Leathers.
12:00 - 13:00 - GH leathers they stock a fantastic selction of leathers mainly chrome tanned and have a bargain basement where you can grab a hide of leather for £20! - spend approx. 1 hour here.
13:00 - 13:45 - Lunch in a near by pub or cafe
13:45 - 14:20 - From Whitechapel get the over ground train to Dalston Junction, approx 13 mins travel, walk to J.T Batchelors 20 mins.
14:20 - 15:20 J.T Batchelors they stock a selection of leather mainly vegtable tanned, hardware and tools. It is an Aladdin's cave and a great experience. spend approx. 1 hour here.
15:20 - 16:10 - Walk to Kingsland High Street 20 mins walk, then catch the 243 Bus to Seven Sisters. Approx 20 min travel. Walk from Seven Sisters to London Trimings
16:10 - 17:00 - London Trimmings, one of my fav places for zips and hardware. spend approx 1 hour here.
17:00 - Cocktail or cuppa tea in local pub then journey home.
